A common image of the start of American liquor prohibition is of people dumping barrels upon barrels of alcohol on the streets, into sewers, etc. Do we know if there were any environmental ramifications or other such consequences from this dumping such as fish showing up dead from alcohol poisoning?

“The most valuable company in history was the the Dutch East India Company, with an adjusted value of ~$8,000,000,000,000.00” What did this wealth mean back then? The owners and executives couldn’t exactly log on to their bank accounts. What were the other stock metrics? P/E? Etc.
